What is the weather cancellation policy for park activity buildings?
In the event of inclement weather, park activity buildings will follow closings issued by Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS). Closings will be posted on www.ParkPermits.org and recorded on the Park Permits phone line, 301-495-2525. In the event of a closure due to inclement weather, please contact the Permit Office at 301-495-2525 to obtain a refund or to reschedule your event

How do I rent a park facility?
 Park facilities can be rented online 24-hours a day, seven days a week, at www.ParkPermits.org, over the telephone by calling 301-495-2525 on weekdays between 8:30am-5pm, in person at either of our two office locations during business hours, via fax by sending your application to 301-495-2484, or by mailing your application in to our Silver Spring Permit Office.  You will need to open a ParkPASS account before making a reservation. ParkPASS accounts are FREE. You can open an account by visiting www.ParkPASS.org and click on Create New Account. Please be prepared to pay the full rental fee and security deposit when you submit your application.

How long does it take to open a ParkPASS account?
You will receive your Login ID and Account PIN within 2 business days after you have entered your account information. As soon as you receive the Login ID and Account PIN, you will be able to make reservations for park facilities and register for classes and programs.

Why do I need a ParkPASS account?
A ParkPASS account is required to book park facilities or register for our programs and classes. Once you receive your Login ID and Account PIN, you will be able to reserve park permit facilities and register for programs and classes in Montgomery Parks Department online 24 hours a day.

When can I make a reservation?
Reservations for all facilities except athletic fields are accepted online 24 hours a day at www.ParkPermits.org. You may also call the Park Permit Office between 8:30am - 4:30pm, Monday through Friday, for reservations. All reservations must be confirmed at least 72 hours in advance of the reservation date.
NOTE: The Park Permits offices are closed on weekends and holidays. Fees will be forfeited if reservations are submitted with less than 48 hours notice. For more information on reserving an athletic field and/or other facility please visit www.ParkPermits.org.

Do I have to make a reservation to use a park facility?
Reservations are required for park activity buildings, picnic shelters and athletic fields located in regional or recreational parks, our group picnic areas, and our campsites. Athletic fields and picnic shelters located in local parks are available on a first-come, first-served basis, but permit holders will be given preference. Reservations are strongly encouraged if you are planning an event on a specific date at a specific time. Contact the Permit Office to see if the facility you are interested in using requires a reservation.

Do I have to pay for using a park facility?
Some facilities are available on a first-come, first served basis at no cost. However, permitted users are always given preference, so it’s a good idea to secure a permit for your event or function. Most facilities can be reserved for a specific date or time. The cost of the permit depends on the type of facility and the day and length of time requested. Visit www.ParkPermits.org for more information.

Is it possible to put a facility on hold at no cost?
No, facilities cannot be put on hold; payment is due at the time of reservation.

Can I make a reservation for a shelter at Seneca State Park through the Park Permit Office?
No. Seneca State Park is a state park and not managed by Montgomery Parks. Please contact Seneca State Park directly at 1-888-432-2267.

Can I rent a community center through the Park Permit Office?
Montgomery Parks rents park activity buildings for community use. Community centers are permitted by the Montgomery County Recreation Department. Please contact the community center of your choice directly to determine availability and obtain a permit.
